*2023 Service Spotlight* During college, Jacek has trained to become certified as a Firefighter 2, Hazmat Operator, and EMT. His training—which included sitting inside a shipping container that was set on fire—taught him about courage, perseverance, and commitment. It is also helping him prepare to become a doctor, as he will have a deeper understanding of what emergency patients experience, having learned how to treat burns and respond to traumatic events. Jacek has found it rewarding to help make people feel calm and safe during an emergency, and he has seen how simple efforts like talking to someone calmly can make them feel better.
