John J. Burke, Esq.

John graduated from Emerson College with a BA in communications in 2001. He also earned joint Masters Degrees in Public Administration and Political Science before pursuing a law degree at Suffolk University Law SchoolHe served as an Assistant District Attorney, prosecuting criminal cases for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts before opening his own law practice defending juveniles in delinquency proceedings and parents and children in care and protection proceedings. He is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the United States Supreme CourtJohn was recently called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 2021 and now works as a practicing barrister at Legis Chambers prosecuting and defending criminal cases. He recently completed a secondment at His Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate and is undertaking immigration work for the Home Office. He remains grateful to the Stephen Phillips Scholarship Committee (and in particular to Arthur and Karen Emery), for helping to unlock doors of educational opportunity. He is committed to using his communication and advocacy skills to give voice to those he represents. Attorney Burke lives in London, England with his young son Lincoln.
